beannact......to answere your question ....yes he lived at peter coyles.....and played drums.....but his tenure was very short....he was replaced by tommy richardson.....one of the greatest drummers of that time.....tommy read music.....he married nora donaghue....the other members of garveys orchestra...were ....johnny bourke...on trumpet...also a vocalist....willy keane lead trumpet....sean gavin alto sax....chuck reynolds ...piano....margo...guitar...and charlie snr...violin....jimmy garvey ...on bass....joe chambers vocalist....and star thornton band manager and driver.....stephen featured on intermissions...on his hammond organ....usually old time waltzes....their was a german musician also.........whilliem....he lived in brownville flats....castlebar had some of the greatest dance orchestras in the country way back then......nora donaghue...was a looker...as was some of the other hot girls of the day....helen buckley....catherine neary....marie gibbons....josie moran....i can still visualize the town hall......the girls sitting and standing by the wall...and fr. kearney seperating couples sitting harmlessly in the alcove....gussie garvey was a deputy caretaker of the hall .....and just before the dance he sprinkled the floor with soap flakes....you also asked me about barbara mcgreal......indeed i did know her .....before she went to the states ....and there is a rather funny story ....with barbara in the centre which i will share later.....it has to do with a dance and a night in blowser walshes pub in wesport....with me scals moylett ....mickey garvey....b....we went to wesport with the chauffering skills of ....tom tunney....now there was a scary ride.....ac an sceil sin la eile.....i will devote some time later to the era of the ballroom of romance....as i have a few funny stories of how i featured in some orchestras of the day.....my place on the band stands was not planned but it happened .....i was known to have laid a finger on the trumpet......that would be a fair description...but i did play the part ....and got away with it....to err is human....but you need a computer to really foul things up....i hope ive answered your question.....and that you continue to visit my golden memories.....sin e anois ....slan....agus tog go bog e....mise le meas....olibhear ocillin......
