Hi Oliver, my father also went St. Patrick’s around the same time as yourself and confirmed all you said. He also told me about a lad, (now deceased) who had severe learning difficulties and came from the Main Street, and that he was beaten savagely by Brother A and others daily, and wept for most of his time in school. I must check and see if this Brother A (who I believe is now burning in hell)appears in the Ryan Report because he was transferred soon after he was challenged by a parent of a child, who he also beat badly and the father had to be held back by others when he chased him into the school.
Finally, this Brother A, years later had the cheek to turn up at a reunion/gathering? held in the TF and he had to scuttle away quickly as the ‘boys’ were tempted to meet out the same punishment, he inflicted on them.
