I am pleased to see, according to the Connaught Telegraph, that Castlebar Town Council are insisting on putting stipulations on the hotel being built on the old convent site which will have a connection with the convent. The sorry episode will not be forgotten by the people of Castlebar. Most of our town councillors were very silent over the affair. One wonders why. Anyway Eoin Garavan and Johnny Mee had the guts to speak out about the outlandish knocking of the convent of many occasions, fair play to them. The councillors who sang dumb will remembered at the local elections.
