October 2000

As all our activities are back in full swing since the middle of September after the summer break.

We have the usual Bingo on Mondays and the entertainment on Thursdays. We are always happt to see any new people that may like to get out of the house for maybe a few hours each day or whatever they like to do themselves even if it is just for a chat with the people that are already coming into us. They can also avail of lunch at just £2.00

As we have just increased the price of lunch which had been only £1.00, it is still great value at £2.00 and as many elderly people or people living alone would probably never bother to make themselves lunch. It is great for anyone to be able to avail of this service whether they are able to come inte the Centre themselves or the lunch delivered to thier door.

The Active Age Group held a Coffee Morning for the Hospice and raised in the region of £200 pounds.

We also ha d a visit from Tommy Marren of Midwest Radio, where he described in detail the poverty of Calcutta, where he spent some months earlier this year. He also entertained our Group here with a sketch from a play he had done. Everyone totally enjoyed him. He spoke to everyone and gave us all a mention on his radio programme the next morning on Midwest.

We orgainsed a bus for our Senior Citizens to go to Knock. We had 35 people approx. They got to Mass and various other things they wanted to do. They finished the day with tea and sandwiches in the hotel. They had a very enjoyable day.
