The links here are to Catherine Carney who was my great-grandmother and a widow by 1901. She inherited the business from her brother-in-law Edward Carney. The premises was on Main Street (aka Market St) where the Halifax Bank (now closed) is located. She originally came from Ballinrobe. Kate Carney was my grandmother. I don't think the Patrick Carney here is the one you are looking for. He became a publican and had a pub in Castle St. His grandson Dr Paul Carney still lives in the town.
