Mr. Richard Freestone, his wife Alice Victoria and daughter Dorothy Jane lived at The Yews, Westport Road, Castlebar. The Freestones were members of the Castlebar branch of the Women's National Health Association. Mr. Freestone also participated in meetings of the Congested Districts Board in the locality as Superintendent Surveyor. The couple contributed to the Soldiers Recreation Room Buffet in the Barracks, Castlebar in May 1916 and were also known to enjoy the local hunts.
