The house in which the Freestone family lived was known as “The Yews” and was sold to James Haughey of the ‘Humbert House’ (Inn), Main Street in 1919. It passed to a number of owners including Garda Supt. G A Flynn in the 1930’s and to Capt. James (Broddie) Malone, former Commdt. of the Western Battalion of the Old IRA. It remained in his family for a long number of years before it was sold off.
