I am really pleased to be hearing about Francie Mellor. However, unless my grandad had a brother we don't know about, it would be another family. My family ran a shop and taxi service and lived, I believe, on The Green. I remember hearing my mum mention the Methodist Chapel, so I know they were near that. Grandad L.C. Mellor was born in Sligo. Grannie was, according to the marriage certificate, from England. My mum (Edie)worked in their shop, I don't know what her sister Annie did. The kids were sent up into a stairwell during the troubles as there were no windows up there and they were safer from the bullets (??!!) Early on grandad knitted socks on some kind of machine, but the wooly bits got into his lungs and he had to stop doing that. That maybe when they got the car they used as a taxi.
