The farmyard building runs along the end of the old piggery site to the Westport Road and then turns towards town. The actual farmyard was between this building and the wall which separated St. Marys from the county hospital. You can see the wall in the photo running up behind the old bakery.

C block of the county hospital is the two story building at the top RHS of the photo. The county hospital was built on the site of the old gaol and may have included some of the old structure. If you look at "The Old Gaol" photo of Muirsín Durcan you will see the gaol is set back from the road and is surrounded by a railing of spears. These spears survived into the 1960's/1970's.

The gaol infirmary was to the RHS just inside the front wall of the gaol as you look at Muirsín's photo. In later years the nurse's home was built near this site. There were two sets of solitary cells one at each corner at the back of the gaol. I think the southeastern solitary cells would have been about where C block is in the photo.
