Mayo County Library has launched an on-line creative writing challenge for children as part of the Children's Book Festival celebrations! Children under the age of 16 are asked to write a story of 700 words or less on the theme of ‘Autumn'. Entries will be in three age categories; under 9 years, 10 to 13 years and 13 to 16 years. Each winner will receive a €50 gift voucher, a goodie bag and will have their story published on the Mayo Library website as well as being featured in the Local press.
The competition will give children throughout the county a chance to exercise their creative writing talents and staff at Mayo County Library are looking forward to reading their submissions. The competition will run from Monday 1st October to Monday 15th October and results will be announced on or before Thursday 25th October. Since this is an on-line competition only entries submitted via the Mayo County Library website will be accepted.
So if you are a budding author, or you know any child who likes to write, this could be the competition for you! Check out the Mayo County Library website at www.mayolibrary.ie for further details.
