U 10 Town Blitz
Mitchels U 10 Town League Blitz will be held next Saturday (19 July 2002) from 10am to 12 pm in McHale Park. There will be an U-10 and U-8 competition. Teams will play a round robin of three games of 10 minutes duration each and a final for both sections. Every player turning up will get a game. Teams will be 8, 9, or 10 aside depending on numbers.
A medal presentation to all players and party will be held circa 11:45 am. Parents and club members are requested to give their support to the footballers of the future.
County Intermediate Championship
The Castlebar Mitchels v Breaffy Intermediate Championship will be broadcast live on CRC FM from 7.30 pm on Sat 20 Jul.
County U21 Football Championship
Castlebar Mitchels 2-10 : Breaffy 1-9
The Mitchels overcame the stern challenge of a resilient Breaffy last Wed night in McHale Park. See match report elsewhere in the Castlebar.News.
After a first half performance which bordered on the absurd, Mitchels lifted their game considerably in the second half and eventually came away winners by 2-10 to 1-9. Not a vintage performance by any means but in the championship a win is a win and Mitchels march on now to meet Knockmore in the Semi Final.
The Big Match
Now that Mayo have been drawn against the losers of the Cork v Tipperary game it means that next week end may see some championship games being played.
Congratulations to Alan Joyce and Emmet Feeney on their success with Mayos Ted Webb Under 16 team.
