Congratulations to the Rockvale Residents Association who organised an excellent clean up of the estate last week. Over twenty bags of litter were filled and with the assistance of the Town Council this was collected and disposed of environmentally. For all involved this was also a fun occasion and a treat was laid on for all the children involved.

Hopefully many more residents associations and groups will now be able to follow this lead and make Castlebar a tidy town. The tidy towns committee in conjunction with the Town Council has drawn up an action plan covering the next three years. With the help and support of all Castlebar can become a force in the Tidy Towns competition which once again will be adjudicated over the summer months.

The new street sweeper will be operating on the streets of Castlebar by the end of May, a meeting of the local town council heard.

A rota is being drawn up and all residents associations will be informed of the schedule so that cars can be off the street when the sweeper arrives.
