Suspected vomiting bug at Mayo General
Four suspected cases of the winter vomiting bug are being investigated at the Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, the Western Health Board has confirmed. The patients have been isolated to a ward and the staff have advised anyone who may have contract the bug to stay away from hospitals and visit their GP. The public is also asked to curtail visits to the hospital and to nominate a person to visit rather than groups
Mayo Pharmacy received £3.45m in fees
Pharmacists in Mayo received £3.45m is fees from the Department of Health last year under the General Medical Scheme. The biggest recipient was Nolan's Pharmacy at James Street, Westport which accrued a sum of £154,042. Two Castlebar pharmacies earned over £100,000, John O Donnell, Ellison Street (£132,123) and John Durcan, Market Square (£105,165)
Deadlock in Balla land row.
Mr Lumley, heritage officer of An Taisce has asked for clarification on the planning status of development and structures erected by Balla Golf Club within and adjacent to lands owned by the Balla Town Park Ltd. The development of Balla Town Park as an ecological and recreational resource has been a major achievement and has deservedly received funding for the National Millennium Committee and support of FAS. Speaking yesterday (Tuesday) Mr Lumley revealed he had not received a response to his questions.
