old workhouse/sacred heart hospital question

Posted by S.K. on April 04, 2007 at 18:30:41:

As a native of Castlebar, one thing that has always puzzled me is, the location of the remains of the famine victims which presumably were reinterred ? when the Old Workhouse / Home was been modernised & extensions built on to it.
Their graves were situated at the rear of the now Sacred Heart Hospital – where houses are now built in Rathbawn Estate. I have checked the County Library, cemetery records and have found nothing. Can anyone out there help
