Details: Bridget Lyons was born in Castlebar,on January 6, 1839. Her parents were Brian Lyons and Bridget Gillin. Bridget went to Liverpool in 1845, and to America in 1855. Her family located in DeKalb County, Illinois, she married Patrick Kelley on August 22, 1865 in Sycamore, Illinois. If you have any history on the Lyons family please contact me. Details: My Gfathers birth certificate shows he was born Patrick Gormley to John Gormley & Anne Spelman, in June 1883. He was born at Cloonfeightrin, Lowpark, Swinford and the birth registered at Castlebar. He reputedly had a brother Michael & sister Bridget (may have gone to US). Patrick was married in England in 1905 as Gormanly. Any insights gratefully accepted.

Details: These people are, I think my grandparents. My father was Micheal John Nyland formerly of Baconfarm Rd, Castlebar. They owned a small dairy farm on this road. My father emigrated to Australia in 1951, with his English wife Peggy, and two sons John and Christopher. My father was one of 11 children. One was named Molly who would be my aunty. If anyone knows anything about this family, I would dearly love to hear from you as I have never met nor spoken to any of my fathers family.

Details: James Burke was my grandfather. He was born in Castlebar. My father, Edmund, traced his roots back to Castlebar in the 1970's. He visited a Prendergast family, I believe. The family farm's address was Ballinamuddagh, Ballyglass, Claremorris, Co., Mayo. I think the person still living on the family farm was named Patrick. Patrick's sister's name is Mary Jo and she married James Pendergast. Her address was Carramore, Meanulla, Castlebar, Co., Mayo. Hopefully someone is still around town that knows this family. I am coming with my family to Ireland in July 2000, and would love to meet whoever is around. Thank you for any help you can give me!

Details: My gg-grandfather's name was Patrick Aloysius Dennison and his wife's name was Catherine Langley and it is known that they lived in County Mayo up until their emigration about 1860. They had 3 children, Maria, Brigid and Patrick,II. There is no further tradition on Brigid, although family members do have photos of her as an adult. Maria married William Richard Murphy and has a lengthy lineage, Patrick,II married (in the states) Mary Vincent Acton, daughter of Edward Acton and Brigid Farrah (alleged to be from County Mayo). My brother and I as well as some of our cousins who are attempting to trace the Dennison family back to their roots and we have struck the proverbial brick wall. Anyone with any pertinent knowledge of anyone listed here who could respond we would greatly appreciate it; especially anyone who may be related to those named within this message.

Details: Hi - my father was born in Castlebar, Mayo and the family owned the pub called 'The Castlebar' - this has since been knocked down to make way for the one-way system there - has anyone any pictures of the pub at all? Mary Agnes Lavelle was actually born in 1885 in Paisley, Scotland, but her parents were Thomas (b.1861 or 1864) and Anne (b.1865) Lavelle, both from County Mayo and married in 1882. Anne's parents were Patrick and Anna Toalis Lavelle (yes, Anne's maiden name was also Lavelle) also from Mayo. My grandmother, Mary Agnes, and the family emigrated to Syracuse, NY around 1891 we think. I would surely love to hear from someone if they have any information about my Lavelle roots!

Details: My ggggrandmother, Mary McAndrew married James McCabe late 1860s or early 1870s. She was the daughter of Patrick McAndrew and Bessie (Elizabeth??) Cox. The story goes that my ggggrandmothers parents owned a horse farm in County Mayo and were well-to-do, financially. Mary fell in love with the stable boy (James McCabe) and they ran away to the USA (Boston, Mass) where her brother was either a priest or a clergy. He arranged for them to marry (and supposedly her parents disowned her). They moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and had 7 children. I am a direct decendent and would love to be able to trace my roots back to Ireland. If anyone has any knowledge or informatio, PLEASE contact me. I would be most grateful. Details: Cathrine Cummins and a John Woods who had a son in Waterford called Peter and whose birth cert is from Waterford. Also any Cummins family in waterford as Peter's God parents were both Cummins. Peter remembers living in a house with an old lady and young girl until he was about 6 yrs of age and then remembers bein put into care. Then he remembers being in a children's home in Upton Co. Cork @ 15 but can not remember the 9-10 yrs before that! He then remembers being taken from the home by a family in Upton to work on a farm and then married in 1970-72. He would realy like to find his real mother and father all he knows is that his father was a solider in the Irish/English army any infomation would be of a great help as it would be nice to know were he actually came from !!!!!

This Martin Sheridan's relations included JOSEPH SHERIDAN of Spencer Park and his son, SIR JOSEPH SHERIDAN (born 1882). I would be most grateful for any information about either of these families. My understanding is that this line of Sheridans came from Kikkinker, Co. Cavan, early in the nineteenth century.

Details: My grandmother, Mary Henehan Tobin, b. 1865(?), came to Cleveland, Ohio around 1880. Her brother Thomas currently lives in Glenhest, Co Mayo. Other siblings-all in the U.S. and deceased are Sabina, Agnes, Theresa, Ann and George. I am looking for information/dates regarding her parents, grandparents etc. Her mother was Mary O'Malley, not an easy name to trace.
A cousin has mentioned that a Fiona Lynn with the Mayo Heritage Assoc. may have some names and dates. Does anyone know how I can reach her?
I know there is a family reunion In June in Westport. Unfortunately our trip to Ireland is not until late summer. Would love to meet some family.

Details: My mother was born Margaert Winifred Brown (1901)in Broadfield, Ballyvary. Father James Brown m.? Gavan.? Gavin had a sister Margaret Gavin who emmigrated to Philadelphia, PA abt. 1890 Mother's sister Mary married and lived in Liverpool. Patrick her elder brother and mother because of the troubles at the time had to leave Ireland to live with relatives in Canada, abt. 1920. The youngest brother, Thomas Brown, stayed in Ireland. the last contact with Thomas was through a lawyer informing mother that he sold the two farms in Ballyvary. I am looking for any one who can send me information on of the above family members.

Details: Julia Jennings, daughter of John Jennings and Bridget Shannon was baptised in the Crossboyne and Taugheen RC church on April 11, 1832. Sponsers were: Pat Jyles(Giles)& Cate Cussane. I am looking for any relatives of my great grandmother. She married Michael Murray of Ireland, had three children born in England:James P, Mary Ann, and John Murray.(John is my grandfather.The family emigrated to USA in 1868 and settled in Plymouth, Pennsylvlania where they remained for the rest of their lives.
