The spectacular Breaffy House Resort in Castlebar played host to the Mayo FAI Post Primary School First Year Futsal Finals for both boys and girls this week with six schools participating in each section.

Rice College, Westport, Sancta Maria, Louisburgh, St. Louis, Kiltimagh, Davitt College, Castlebar, St. Muredach's, Ballina and Colaiste Acla Achill participated in the boys section

Sacred Heart School, Westport, St. Louis, Kiltimagh, Davitt College, Castlebar, Sancta Maria Louisburgh, Colaiste Acla Achill and Ballinrobe Community School participated in the girls section

The boys event was a round robin event with each school playing each other once and the school with the most points going on to compete and represent Mayo in the Connacht Finals.

After the fifteen high quality games had finished Sancta Maria, Louisburgh came out as winners followed closely by Rice College, Westport and St. Louis Kiltimagh.

The girls section was split into two groups of three with Semi Finals and then a Final played.

After eight absorbing group games and the Semi Finals, Sacred Heart School, Westport and St. Louis Kiltimagh met in the Final with the Westport ladies ending up as County winners after a great contest

FAI Development Officer Mr. Paul Byrne would like to thank all the participating schools and their teachers and players on their sporting conduct throughout the event and also Breaffy House for their fabulous facilities.

Sancta Maria, Louisburgh (Boys) and Sacred Heart School, Westport (Girls) will now go on to represent Mayo in the Connacht Finals on Thursday, November 14 in IT Sligo.

Meanwhile, last week in Sligo, Summerhill College (Boys) and Mercy College (Girls) qualified from their County Finals in fine form. These two schools will be looking to continue their winning ways next month in home territory

We wish all participating teams the best of luck in the Provincial decider.
