Ever since the worldwide phenomenon that was the three tenors, (Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras) one of the great questions of all those interested in opera and in great tenor voices has been who would be the next generation's contender for the title of the world's greatest Tenor. One of the most highly regarded Tenors of the current generation, and many peoples favourite for the accolade can be seen and heard live on Saturday December the 11th next at 5.30 pm in Castlebar when Roberto Alagna heads the stellar cast of Verdi's great opera Don Carlo in the next The Met Live In HD broadcast at Mayo Movieworld.
Alagna heads an all-star cast, which includes the thundering bass Ferruccio Furlanetto, glorious soprano Marina Poplavskaya, and the English baritone with the matinee-idol good looks, Simon Keenlyside. Nicholas Hytner, Artistic Director of Britain's National Theatre, makes his Met directing debut with this glorious new period-costume production. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who also conducted last season's attendance record -breaking production of Carmen, conducts the opera, with the famous Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and chorus.
