BLUEGRASS/FOLK
Straight from the Appalachian mountains, Virginian band Furnace Mountain makes a welcome return to the Linenhall with its own distinctive and classy take on rootsy Americana, breathing new life into old-time, bluegrass and folk tunes, as showcased on the band's new (6th) album Shadow of Plenty. At times lively and raucous, at times poignant and poetic, Furnace Mountain has won critical acclaim for its fresh, authentic sound, which combines heart-worn and effortlessly sweet vocal harmonies with evocative fiddle playing and dazzling mandolin chops. The band has performed at festivals across the globe, gracing stages from the Yangtze River in China to the banks of the Shenandoah River. And now they're here. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.
Aimee Curl (bass, vocals), Danny Knicely (mandolin, fiddle), Dave Van Deventer (fiddle), Morgan Morrison (bouzouki, vocals)
