Youth Open Mic
Music - Wednesday 1st June @ 7.00pm
at Linenhall Theatre
The Idea of a Young Open Mic is to encourage young people to try out the art of performing. Many children and young people play music, sing, or attend classes. However, the chance to play in front of others can be rare. An informal Open Mic also allows for working with nerves in a safe and encouraging place. Even with no experience, the uniqueness of each act shines, making a special event for everyone.
So, why not try out a party piece, either alone, or with friends! Perhaps teachers would encourage students to get involved? Others are welcome to listen, learn and build courage. Bring a friend or family member. The Linenhall has previously run Open Mic nights for song and the spoken word. This variation of a Young Open Mic was proposed by Finola Reilly, a previous attendee, who also teaches with Mayo Youth Orchestra. The hope is that young people will feel welcome to participate, no matter what their ability. Come along and give it a try!
