Ireland's troubled history has contributed to a fragmented attitude to its musical history. Sonamus combines the talents of four highly-respected Irish musicians from the Traditional, Classical and Early Music worlds. The unique combination of instruments creates a beautiful and unique sound that allows the group to explore a wide palette of tones in their performances of Irish Music from the last seven hundred years. Sonamus' 2016 national tour follows the release of their acclaimed debut album Music of Ireland, offering an opportunity to hear music that was enjoyed by all strata of Irish society from the 17th century to the present day and reflecting Ireland's extraordinarily broad musical heritage. The concert will feature compositions by Cormac Breatnach, Roger Doyle and Donal Lunny, Traditional music, 17th century Baroque music from France and Ireland, Irish harp tunes and Romantic arrangements of Irish Traditional music.
"(A) beautiful blend of Baroque, Traditional and original material." - Lyric FM
