This Friday (20th September) is Culture Night - are you coming along to meet legendary GAA commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh?

We invite you to come along to an evening of sporting entertainment in the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar from 6.15-8.30pm. Admission free.
6.15-6.45: Tour: "Hair hurling balls: Earliest artefacts of our national game"
Join curator Clodagh Doyle for a tour of this wonderful exhibition which features 14 hurling balls made from matted cow hair with a plaited horsehair covering. All the balls have been dated to the late seventeenth century or earlier. The earliest was made in the second half of the twelfth century, 800 years ago! All were found through hand cutting turf in bogs over the past 100 years.

7.00-8.30: Talk & interaction with legendary GAA commentator, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh.
In conjunction with the Hair Hurling Balls exhibition, join us & Mid West Radio for an evening of conversation with legendary GAA commentator, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Hear Micheál give his views on all things sporting - particularly the Hair Hurling Balls exhibition and what his prediction is for this year's All-Ireland Football Final!!
Admission free. No booking required.

Museum Shop & Cafe
The Museum Shop and Café will remain open until 9pm on Culture Night. Why not purchase one of Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh's books and get it signed by the man himself?
