CHRISTMAS FAMILY DAY @ THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IRELAND - COUNTRY LIFE
SATURDAY 8 DECEMBER '07: 2.30-4.30PM. ADMISSION FREE.
Christmas is a time of enjoyment for all the family. To kick-start this year's festivities, bring your children along to see Santa Claus and his elves in the magical setting of the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar.
Santa will arrive on pony & trap at 2.30pm. A ticketing system will be implemented to allow children and parents enjoy a range of other activities during their visit to the Museum.

Carol Singing
Join the pupils from St. Angela's N.S. as they sing a range of popular and traditional Christmas carols. (Level 0)
Christmas Storytelling
Join Yvonne McDermott from the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life as she shares some traditional Christmas stories and traditions with children and their parents. (Level -2)
Christmas exhibition
This small exhibition displays objects relating to a typical Irish Christmas with panels and fact sheets giving visitors the opportunity to learn how Christmas would have been celebrated in Irish homes in the past. (Level 0)
Traveller Life exhibition
This exhibition on Traveller life in Ireland provides an insight into the ways and traditions of Irish Travellers using a wide variety of objects from the museum's collections. Come and learn about life on the road in a barrel top wagon. Visit the Barrel Top Wagon in the Museum grounds. (Level 0 & outside Galleries)
Museum Shop

Museum Cafe
Free mulled wine and mince pies for Café customers. Place your order for Christmas cakes and puddings.
