Happy New Year to all and I hope that this will be a prosperous and beneficial year for you and Castlebar as a town.

More and more members are receiving our monthly mailing by e-mail, would you like to join this group? No more agendas getting lost or misplaced. Print it out as you require it.

Knock Airport has just announced new daily flights to Dublin with Aer Arann. These flight will leave daily at 7:00hrs and return at 18:00hrs. This is great news for the businesses of the area and should make attending meetings an easier task.

The National Prism Awards for 2001 have just been launched. Anyone that has already completed a prism course or wishes to attend one in the next few weeks is eligible to enter. The closing date for the local awards will be in the near future.

Thank you to everyone that contributed towards this year’s Christmas lights. The contributions received to date total £13,000, £3,000 of which was returned as prizes to the following winners:



1st Western Cellular, Main St.
2nd Moran Solicitors, Mountain View,
3rd Castlebar Security Centre, Thomas St. Congratulations to all.


This year we are receiving a grant of £10,000 from Castlebar UDC. Final accounts will be available shortly. We are awaiting all the bills, which currently amount to approx. £25,000. As you can see there is a significant shortfall.

Mayo County Enterprise Board has launched their training programme for 2001. Courses will run between February and April and can take place in any area that has sufficient demand. Course topics are as follows:

  1. Managing your Finances
  2. Human Resource Recruitment & Management Programme
  3. Marketing & Sales Training Programme
  4. Operations Management

Application forms are available from the Co. Enterprise Board Offices.

CCI are organising a unique event, which will take place in the Leopardstown Pavilion Dublin on Tuesday February 13th 2001. The Jordan Formula One Grand Prix Team will bring their owner, their new car for 2001 and their leading driver to Dublin. You will get to meet Eddie Jordan; you will get to see the new Mugen powered car for the 2001 season, and you will also get to meet Heinz Harald Frentzen. RTE’s irrepressible sports analyst Des Cahill will compere the evening. Full details will be available shortly.
