The Award Winning Parke Arts & Drama Group take ‘Fortunes & Misfortunes' to the stage at the Royal Theatre.

Every Thursday Night for July and August. Tickets €15.

Normally the summer months represent a well deserved break for amateur drama groups around the country, but not so for the ParkeArts & Drama Group. The Group has been invited to perform its production of Fortunes & Misfortunes, a riproaring 3 act comedy, in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar for the summer seasonevery Thursday night.

The Group already enjoyed a very successful four night run of this Play in March of this year, playing to packed houses each night. The Group was delighted to receive the call from the Royal Theatre to perform the Play again as part of its summer season. The play was very well received on its first night and the cast and crew would like to thank all those who attended the fabulous opening night and are looking forward to being back every Thursday night for July and August in the Royal Theatre.

The story centres on Daisy Fortune a hard working, world weary waitress who just wants an easy life. Unfortunately that's not likely to happen as she has to support a lazy husband and a work shy son, Nathan. In fact her life gets much harder when Nathan's pet lizard escapes in the Cosy Corner Cafe where Daisy works. We also meet Bill & Oonagh Delaney, Bill is the local schoolmaster and Oonagh is a wannabe poet and socialite. Oonagh is trying to impress her writing group by hosting a poetry workshop by famous poet Aubrey Peacock, but all doesn't quite go to plan as someone is trying to sabotage the event, but who? To make matters worse Bill is trying to avoid the advances of Wanda, the mother of one of his pupils, will he give in to temptation? The result is absolute mayhem in the Delaney household.
Curtain up at 8.30pm nightly, every Thurday in July and August.

This would be an ideal way to entertain visiting family or friends for a few hours and why not make a night of it by enjoying a meal and glass of wine beforehand. Tickets for the show cost €15.00 and can be booked by calling the Box Office on 0818 300 000 or 094 9023111 or you can visit www.theroyal.ie. Discounts availabe for students pensioners and families.

Tickets also available on the door.

The Theatre is only a 15 minute drive from Westport and 20 minute drive from Ballina, and with our long bright summer evenings, why not bring along a friend?
