Our Birthday Is Your Party
Royal Theatre, Castlebar, Co Mayo
Saturday 21st July @ 11.15pm
Tickets €10

This is our Birthday Party, but it’s not a party for us, it’s a party for you!

QT is turning two this weekend and we are reinventing what a good night out is. This is not gimmick or a fad; this is the future of clubbing in the west. No more, will you have to wait for the DJ to spin a tune you like in a faceless, bland venue this is nighttime entertainment at it’s finest, a quality time for you and your friends, something that will entertain you and make your night no matter what your taste is.

Starting this weekend when the all new QT opens its door for the very first time, and you’ll know before your feet even touch the ground inside that this is something different, something new and something not to be forgotten. This is a carnival for the senses, where Can Can Girls, Magicians, fire eaters, jugglers, mime artists and Stilt Walkers will greet you at the outdoor marquee while listening to the live Samba band and entertaining you before your even able to enjoy the luxurious interior that will surround you within our own little world of wonder at the weekend.

And you might say what is a party without a little taste of the high life, and we couldn’t agree more, that’s why while you enjoy our champagne reception, you’ll be mingling with the likes of former pop star and television heart throb Keith Duffy and Irelands leading lady model Glenda Gilson who’ll both be in QT to take in that “Quality Time” experience and if it’s good enough for the stars, then you know it’s going to be something special.

But QT’s not just about famous people, carnival side shows and luxurious design, it’s about the music and that’s what is the heartbeat of any good club.  That’s why we are going to let you run wild across the dance floor in anyone of our four distinct areas. And we aren’t just rolling out the same old faces, this is your party and we have scoured the earth for the best of the best on the wheels of steel.  Four time Irish scratch champion and Corona DJ Scratch World Final winner DJ Tuki will be manning the decks, pumping out the tunes with his own inimitable style. Tuki will be manning the Ice Bar, where he’ll be playing the finest in Hip Hop and R’N’B with his own distinct scratching slant.

Defected’s main man Andy Daniels, who has already carved out a remarkable career as a DJ, producer and promoter at the forefront of the Funky House music scene.  Daniels has been winning over clubbers and those in the know alike, Mixmag picked him as one of their best Ibiza breakthrough DJs and also M8 magazine have given him their Pick of Tomorrow’s People. Andy is certainly on one hell of a roll and you can bet your last beat that his best will be on show at ‘Our Birthday is Your Party’.

And that’s only half the night because Reelgrooves’ Greg Dorban the driving force behind the expansion of Reelgroove Records events such as Turnmills within the UK and; Cocoon (Frankfurt), Atlantis (Basel), Astra (Bangkok) and Utpoia (Warsaw) to name but few, will also be manning the decks, pumping out some funky grooves.  You might say yah, that’s great, a list of big DJ’s playing some great new music, but that’s not really my scene. No need to worry, because we haven’t forgotten out past that made us such a success in the first place our own resident legendary DJ Padraic Walsh will also be on hand to make sure that everyone is catered for on what promises to be the weekend of the year.

Carnival events, top class DJ’s that’s everything ticked right? Wrong! because before the biggest party of the year kicks off upstairs well have you rolling in the isles as PJ Gallagher (of Naked Camera fame), will be performing at the west’s best up and coming comedy club. Gallagher has been getting people aching in their stomachs for sometime now from laughter and this weekends show promises to be no different. (Tickets for Comedy Club available from the theatre box office).

What ever you want in a night out, we’ve got it. And if you don’t want to get your feet or hair wet we’ll have the QT limo’ circling the town, to make sure you arrive at the biggest party in style.
