We Can Always Turn – Will O’Kane

Official Opening: Ballina Arts Centre - Wednesday 9th January 2008, 8pm by Gillian Marsh.

The basis for this exhibition of paintings is a mixture of the personal and political. This is achieved mainly through the use of portraiture and occasional abstract and landscape source material. From paintings of the inventor of table-football and bridges of Nova Scotia  to catalogue models and French philosophers. All the pictures attempt to exist independently of each other and yet form an interlocking system of reference to the world.

“Painting should be able to create possible models of modern life and yet form resistance to complacency and immutable thought”, explains Will O’Kane. “Mostly though when presented as something new, it can be a reawakening of the visual sense”.

Free admission. All are welcome to attend, exhibition runs until 2nd February.
