The firsts produced some outstanding rugby on Saturday night in defeating a brave Creggs side 13-8 at the green. Mike Power and Simon O’Malley with the tries with Paul Coady kicking a penalty. This win puts Castlebar second in the table and next up is Galwegians on Sunday week. There are now just six games left in the league and a good run in is vital if the team are to qualify for the AIL Junior cup next season.

The seconds team were up against Westport on Friday night and in a cracking game were beaten 10-0. Best for Castlebar were Ronan Conway, Tom Murphy, Paudie O’Malley and Fintan Casey at Full Back. Sheamus Devaney and Eamon Cafferkey were the pick of the forwards. There was great news with Robbie Cusack returning from Injury. Training continues on Friday nights.

Castlebar hosted a mini blitz recently with Westport and Tuam visiting Cloondeash. There were games from under 8 all the way up to under 12 and as always the lads gave a great account of themselves and all enjoyed the day.
The Under 11 and under 12 teams are heading for Headquarters on Sunday for a historic day as they watch Ireland face the Pacific Islands in Lansdowne Road before the ground is redeveloped. The Bus leaves the courthouse at 7.45 and will return to the Courthouse at 9.30 approximately. Training continues as usual on Saturday.

The Under 16 team faced Ballyhaunis on Friday night and despite some great individual performances, it was a case of giving second best on the night. There are some great potential talents out there but it is vital that every one attends training on Wednesday nights.
There was no game this weekend as the Connemara game was called off. Training continues on Wednesday.
Congrats to First’s player Paul Coady on his awards at the recent Mayo League Dinner in Castlebar. Paul had a fantastic season with his club Glenhest Rovers and played some excellent soccer. Form he has produced on the rugby pitch also. Well done from all at the club.

Castlebar Race night will take place in Tolsters on Friday the 8th of December starting at 9pm. Horses, Jockeys and trainers are on sale at 20euro each from Committee members. Come along and join in the fun and help raise money for the club.
