Castlebar RFC AGM
A large crowd attended what was an interesting and informative night at Cloondeash on Thursday night last as Castlebar RFC held its AGM. Welcoming the attendance outgoing president Joe Rawson spoke on what was a mixed season on the pitch at senior level but spoke of the success that the underage structure had brought as regards numbers and wins on the playing field. As regards the adult teams, it was a season that injury took a serious toll but on a brighter note the performance of the players who came into the squad was very beneficial as the team retained its position in the top flight of the Connacht junior league. What was great to note was the number of senior players who attended and the attitude of those same players in looking forward to a busy and hopefully successful 2004/2005 season. Looking forward to that season, he wished the club the very best for the new season and it was his wish that with a small bit of luck the club could have one of its best seasons ever. After a thorough Treasurers report in which it was stressed that the Club lotto continues its success, it was on to the election of officers. One of the most popular appointments was that of David O’Malley as President for the new season. Mr O’Malley spoke of his hopes for the new season and his wish that success on the field would continue. The officers for 2004/2005 were as follows:
President: David O’Malley
Vice President: Paul Gannon
Treasurer: Trevor Ardill
Assistant Treasurer: Patrick Durcan
Secretary : Rory Casey
Branch Representatives: Joe Rawson, Sheamus King
Youth Co-ordinator – Jimmy Staunton
