Next Saturday, November 15th, Connacht will take on Edinburgh in The semi-final of the Celtic Cup at the Sportsground in Galway (kick-off 2pm). This is probably the biggest rugby match ever played in the West of Ireland as Connacht try to get through to their first ever cup final.
An appeal is being issued to all sports fans in the West to make a special effort to support the side in this match. Gates will be open from 12 noon and following on the success of the Ulster game, there will again be a variety of free activities for children including bouncing castles, face-painters, hundreds of Connacht Rugby balloons and lollipops, Bob The Builder as well as clowns, bears and a few other special guests. And, to crown it all, children will again be admitted free to the match.
The family day out at the revamped Sportsground will be an opportunity for people to sample the new facilities at the ground. These include ample car parking, fast food and full bar and restaurant facilities, along with covered accommodation in the new stand.
Supporters are also urged during the week to send a message of goodwill to the team. All messages will be printed and displayed on the walls of the team room throughout the week. There are three ways to send a message: By email to
