The Mayo Photographic Club meets on Thursdays at 8 pm in Room 14 of the GMIT and all those interested in photography are most welcome to attend. The programme for next Thursday (November 8) is a Photoshop Workshop on the sharpening of images and will be presented by Kirstin Hellmann and Lyle McElderry. Last Thursday was a competition night and the photographs had to represent Book Titles. There were 56 photographs entered over the three categories namely Projected, Monochrome and Colour and Lyle McElderry, who was the judge, had a tough task. The results were as follows: Projected 1st Eamonn McCarthy (Sky Masters), 2nd Aileen Shaw (The Search), 3rd Darren Moran (A River Runs Through It). Monochrome 1st Conrad Harley (Stairway to Heaven), 2nd Frank Fullard (Peppa Pig), 3rd = Michael Gannon (The Forest)/Marion Galt (Old Treasures)/Monica Flanagan (Titanic Sinks). Colour 1st Michael Gannon (Whispering Waters), 2nd Michael Gannon (Everybody Needs a Rock), 3rd = Marion Galt (Miscellany Whiskey)/Eamonn McCarthy (Fishing).
