GALA from BERLIN 2011

From Berlin Philharmonie On New Year´s Eve 2011

- Berliner Philharmoniker Featuring Sir Simon Rattle (conductor) and Evgeny Kissin (piano) -

Screened Live At SGC Mayo Movie World, Castlebar

In Full-HD & Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound

This year the Berliner Philharmoniker and their musical director Sir Simon Rattle welcome the New Year together with highly awarded/multi-awarded Russian pianist Evgeny Kissin. Kissin's musicality, the depth and poetic quality of his interpretations, and his extraordinary virtuosity have placed him at the forefront of today's pianists.A highlight of the GALA from Berlin concert will be the performance of the Symphonic Dance No. 2, Op. 64, Piano Concerto A minor Op. 16 by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, which Evgeny Kissin  certainly will give his own personal touch. The Symphonic Dance No. 2, Op. 64, Piano Concerto A minor Op. 16 is the only concert created by Edvard Grieg. It was originated in Søllerød, where Grieg spent his honeymoon with his newly-wed cousin Nina Hagerup. The concert was composed in 1868 and first performed in April 1869 in Copenhagen.
