The space between the PO and Burleigh House was a single building occupied by the Dwyer family. To the rear was the business premises known as Dwyer's Coach Factory, accessed by a laneway beside the Post Office. The coachmaking was carried on from about early 1870s to about 1924.

Orders for new gigs and cabs came from far afield.
