Ireland West Airport Knock regrets the recent disruption to its inbound and outbound New York services. The airport is deeply concerned that passengers were inconvenienced and  distressed by the recent delays to the flyglobespan services to and from Ireland West Airport Knock.  The Airport has been in constant communication with the airline to address this serious matter and to resolve these issues promptly and effectively. Services to New York are now running normally and airport management is meeting flyglobespan on Thursday 12th July when it is expected that an immediate plan to rectify any problems experienced in the early commencement of these first ever services  will be finalised and put fully into operation.

During the recent disruption the airport’s primary focus has been on ensuring that the passengers are kept informed and that services are provided for the passengers to minimise the disruption to them.  Airport Management has been actively communicating the issues which arose from the recent events to flyglobespan so that such disruption will not happen in the future. flyglobespan has informed the Airport that they are doing everything possible to resolve these matters as soon as possible.

The transatlantic services are fundamental to aid the development of tourism and economic activity in the region. flyglobespan was the first airline to provide transatlantic services from Ireland West Airport Knock and the success of US flight services will be of great benefit to the region. The airline has experienced a significant set back but the focus must now be on addressing the significant problems that have occurred in a constructive and sustainable manner so services from Ireland West Airport Knock  will operate to the highest standard.

The flyglobespan service is at the embryonic stage of operating from Ireland West Airport Knock as services commenced five weeks ago.  In this time there has been a significant demand for the service with already 6,000 passengers already having used the service and 25,000 already booked to the end of October.  Ireland West Airport Knock has shown that it is capable and qualified in handling transatlantic services even when presented with difficulties of acute disruption.

Liam Scollan, Managing Director, Ireland West Airport Knock would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff at Ireland West Airport Knock who worked together to provide support to disrupted passengers. Mr Scollan would also like to extend his gratitude to the local hotels, transport companies and the media who responded to the difficulties which were faced.

He said: “A continued priority for Ireland West Airport Knock is to build quality sustainable transatlantic services which will enhance the lifestyle of people living in the West, North West and Midlands as well as the economic growth of this region. We are simply doubling our resolve to ensure that the people of the west of Ireland and those who want to visit this region will have the best possible service.”
