Digital Marketing in Mayo, Local Enterprise Office Mayo and Chambers Mayo are delighted to announce the arrival of Jeff Caselden, Amazon Ireland, to an upcoming business event being held in Castlebar on 7th March 2017.
The event, Local Online, will set out to inform businesses how to embrace the increasing customer trend of shopping on line and will outline supports available to assist you in building your business online.
Amazon reported a net sales increase of 27% to $136.0 billion in 2016, compared with $107.0 billion in 2015. In 2016, there were over 100,000 sellers on Amazon with sales of more than $100,000 each.
Guest speaker, Jeff Caselden, is an organisational leader and problem solver proven in one of the world's most well-known and fastest growing e-Commerce and technology companies, Amazon. Jeff spent over 17 years with Amazon.com, culminating as site leader and director for its Dublin Development Centre which grew from 300 to 1,200 employees during his leadership. Jeff was also a leader & engineer in Amazon's Search organisation for over 12 years, helping Amazon grow from $6B to $120B in annual retail revenues - much of that driven by Search. His Amazon experience also includes IT infrastructure management & engineering and customer service. His earlier career includes retail management and sales experience.
Other initiatives introduced by Amazon will also be discussed on the night, including their new initiative Amazon Go in Seattle. Amazon Go is a new concept store with no checkout required. Customers simply take the products they want, and go. The checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning.
Joining Jeff on the night is author and online business consultant Alastair McDermott of Website Doctor. Building websites and software since 1996, along with co-founding several software, web and information based startup companies, Alister has provided solutions for businesses and organisations of all sizes including by improving website conversion rates and bringing more visitor traffic to websites. His book "Running a Website with WordPress: A Quick Guide for Business Owners", is full of practical advice and tips for running a successful website including crucial topics like increasing your online sales.
To give a national retail perspective Lorraine Higgins, Head of Public Affairs and Communications with Retail Excellence Ireland, will join the keynote speakers.
A panel of local businesses & organisations including Carraig Donn, Molloys Pharmacy, Shoes Online and GMIT will engage in a lively discussion on e-commerce with panel facilitator Fergal O'Connor of Digital Marketing in Mayo.
By sharing local, national and international experience, and providing an opportunity to network, this event will give local Mayo businesses the opportunity to build their businesses in line with consumer purchasing trends.
The event will take place on March 7th at 7pm in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar and will be facilitated by Noel Davidson of the Entrepreneurs Academy.
