Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline announced a new daily service from Ireland West Knock to Liverpool John Lennon Airport on 19 June 2008.  The new route will commence on the 27th October and it will complement Ryanair’s existing network of routes at Ireland West Knock. These include daily scheduled services to London Luton and London Stansted airports in addition to the four-times-a-week services to East Midlands as well as Bristol International, which commenced last November.  It is expected that this latest expansion by Ryanair at Ireland West Knock will generate an estimated 100,000 additional annual passengers at the Airport.

Announcing the new route, Ryanair’s UK & Ireland Sales & Marketing Manager, Bridget Dowling said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce our fifth route from Ireland West Knock - our third within the last 15 months. Today we are unveiling our special promotion of €12.99* fares from Ireland West Knock to Liverpool - log onto www.ryanair.com immediately, for the lowest fares, guaranteed before this offer ends.”

Robert Grealis, Chief Executive of Ireland West Airport Knock said: “The addition of this direct daily service to Liverpool with Ryanair is another significant step in the Airport’s development as we continue to provide an ever-widening choice of great value, direct and convenient jet flights to our customers both in Ireland and in the UK. This new route further expands our network of scheduled jet flight services to key UK destinations and it will provide a significant boost to the region’s tourism and commercial economies. The route should deliver 30,000 additional UK tourists with an associated spend of over €12.5 million to the West and North West. I’m sure it will also be a welcome boost to the thousands of Liverpool and Everton supporters in the region also!”

“POOL OF LIFE!”

As European centre of culture in 2008 and with a reputation as one of the UK’s most energetic and diverse cities, Liverpool offers the holidaymaker everything from football to festivals; music to maritime; and clubs to cuisine. Liverpool city is a mecca for shopping enthusiasts and it offers an abundance of museums, nightlife and arts activities. As a city, Liverpool is a fabulous location to visit this year with several major new developments taking place such as the new Liverpool Echo Arena (capable of seating 10,600 concert goers), the new Met Quarter and Liverpool One (a new shopping and leisure district the size of 28 full-size football pitches with 160 new shops, cafes and restaurants overlooking Chavasse Park), and the Cruise Liner landing point at the Pier Head (Liverpool's new £19 million cruise berth alongside the city's UNESCO World Heritage waterfront).  Liverpool is not only the birth place of the Beatles but is also a cultural capital, with more national museums, theatres and galleries than any other UK city outside London. Sport is a passion too in this city with two Premiership soccer clubs and home to the world's most famous steeplechase, The Grand National. The Northwest region is known as England's Golf Coast and the Royal Birkdale plays host to the 2008 British Open Golf Championship. Nearby is the Roman City of Chesterand the stunning landscapes of Lancashire and the Lake District.
