Football League                                                    Back to Sixth

The School League.

At the start of the school year Mr. Mahon took on the task of the senior league with eight teams taking part. The teams were set into two pools with North Melbourne, Sydney Swans, Western Eagles and Richmond in pool 1 and Brisbane Bears, St. Kilda, Collingwood and Adelaide

in pool 2. The captains were picked and then the teams and the league was ready to commence. Then after 24 games , the Quarter finals were decided with North Melbourne playing Adelaide, Sydney Swans playing Collingwood, Western Eagles playing Kilda and Richmond taking on Brisbane Bears. With North Melbourne, Sydney Swans, St. Kilda and Brisbane Bears all winning the Semi-Final stage was set and the draw was made with North Melbourne playing St. Kilda and Sydney Swans taking on Brisbane Bears

After a tight start to the game in the first Semi-Final North Melbourne edged out eventually and were through to the Final.

Hard Luck to St. Kilda. In the second semi-final this was by far the closer game. Sydney Swans were the Organizers favorites but Brisbane Bears proved them wrong eventually winning out.

_ The Final _

This was a different game then what people thought with Brisbane Bears taking a huge margin at the beginning of the game and held on to the lead but at the end North Melbourne came back but it was too late.

After the game Principal Mr. Mc Hale presented the cup to the winning captain Ronan O’Boyle. The winners were presented with trophies and the losers presented with medals. Sean Keane was presented with The Player Of The Tournament, while David o’ Donavan was presented with Most Improved Player Of The Tournament.
