Planning on getting more physically active for the new year? Following the new series of Operation Transformation?

Following the huge success of last years initiative where 25 groups got involved Mayo Sports Partnership are calling on groups, clubs or communities throughout Mayo who plan to hold an 'Operation Transformation' event, a walk, or a weekly programme in your community to contact us and let us know the details of your programme.

We will advertise the programme for you on our Operation Transformation Mayo Calendar of Events and for the duration of the programme.  In addition we will supply you with resources to help your group take on the challenge. These will include -

- Promotion

- A 5 week series of leaflets

- High Viz Vests ( limited number for each group)

- Walking Challenge Cards

- Follow on Walking Leader Training

The campaign commences on Saturday 17th January with 5 Mayo Walks as part of the National Walks Day. These will take place in the following locations with a start time of 10am except in Claremorris where the start is 12 Noon. Participants are requested to register at the below locations no later than 9.45am:

  • Belmullet - Meeting Point Civic Centre
  • Ballina - Meeting Point Ballina Soccer Club
  • Castlebar - Meeting Point Castlebar Tennis Club
  • Claremorris - Meeting PointClare Lake Entrance
  • WestportWestport LeisurePark

Operation Transformation Mayo will culminate in a 5K Fun Run / Walk in each of the above locations on Saturday 21st February at times yet to be arranged.

Please note that there is nothing to stop you organising a walk in your area on the 17th to start your campaign.

Contact us by Friday January 9th and we will advertise your programme through local media outlets. All you have to do is let us know the following details of your programme

- Name of Group

- Days

- Time

- Venue / Meeting Point

- Name of Programme ( For Example "Get Active Crossmolina" or "Achill on the Move"

- Contact Name and Number

Last year we had 25 active groups across the county including Achill, Aughamore, Ballina, Ballintubber, Belmullet, Ballinrobe, Castlebar, Charlestown, Claremorris and Westport. But we want more.
