Closing Date for Sports Partnership Grant Scheme is Wednesday 6th May
The Board of the Mayo Sports Partnership announced details of its upcoming Special Participation Grant Scheme for 2015 at the end of March. This scheme invites clubs and organizations who have sport / recreation as their central focus to submit proposals which would target increasing participation amongst target groups such as children, disadvantaged, teenage girls /women, travelling community, older people, disabilities and ethnic minorities. This may include setting up of new clubs or additional activities which would increase participation within existing organizations.
Initiatives which received funding in the past included the development of basketball in Mayo, setting up community adventure sports opportunities, mass participation event such as a local 5K fun run, start up of walking / cycling groups, new athletics clubs in Aughagower, Ballycastle and Ballinrobe and the promotion of camogie in Mayo.
Approx € 18,000 has been allocated under this years scheme which has a closing date of Wednesday 6th May. The schemes allocation has remained steady over the last 3 years or so due to funding from the Irish Sports Council and the success of the Western People West of Ireland Womens Mini Marathon. The Mayo Sports Partnership board will decide on all successful applications and its recommendations are final.
