An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, will perform the official opening of the Mayo Sports Clinic in Ballina on Saturday next, October 6th, at 2pm.

The Sports Clinic is under the directorship of Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician Dr Sean Moffatt and Chartered Physiotherapist & Certified Athletic Trainer Liam Moffatt, and aspires to providing the highest standard of patient care.

As part of the official opening, Professor Niall Moyna of DCU and Mayo senior captain Andy Moran will also address a gathering of sports figures, health professionals and representatives of local community groups.

Dr Sean and Liam are both members of the Mayo senior football medical backroom team. The Mayo Sports Clinic provides the following services: Physiotherapy, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Occupational Injuries, Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Bio-Mechanical Assessment, Strength & Conditioning, Pre-season Team Sport Medical & Physiotherapy Screening, Pre-Event Medicals High Performance Athlete Services, High-end Sports Rehabilitation, Injection Therapy and Back Pain Clinic.

Through linkages with some of the leading institutions in Ireland, Mayo Sports Clinic also offers an excellent referral service.

Professor Moyna will speak on ‘Exercise is Medicine'. He is a Professor in the School of Health and Human Performance and also a member of the Centre for Preventive Medicine in DCU. He has vast experience in the sporting arena, and was a member of the Dublin senior football backroom team in 2011 when they captured the All-Ireland senior football championship.

Andy will talk on 'Injury management for the elite sportsperson', and he will draw on his own experiences during 2011 and 2012, when he suffered two serious leg injuries. The Ballaghaderreen native is recognised as one of Ireland's most committed and inspirational Gaelic footballers.
