Help Us to Help Others - Cycle Challenge

An A-list celebrity line-up will cycle through some of Mayo's most scenic routes ahead of the "Help Us to Help Others Cycle Challenge" taking place on Saturday 15thSeptember. The fun cycle will raise much needed funds for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

Blowing the whistle at the start-line will be Taoiseach Enda Kenny who will be there with Mayo Football Captain Andy Moran, Mayo Rose Dervla Kenny, 2012 Escort of the Year, Ian Cullinane from Galway, Comedian Frankie Ford, National Junior Cycling Champion Liam Corcoran and campaign ambassador TV3's Noel Cunningham. The event  will see staff, customers, community and special guests of the four Kavanagh's SuperValu Mayo stores - Castlebar, Claremorris, Kiltimagh and O'Connor's Westport - mount their bikes as they push themselves to reach their €30,000 goal in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

Avid, novice and leisure cyclists are invited to join in and take part in one of two routes, beginners or advanced. The Beginners 50km race starts at 10am on Saturday 15th September, and kicks off in Westport, through Castlebar, onto Newport and will finish in Westport again. The Advanced 100km race also starts at 10am from Westport, leading into Castlebar, onto Kiltimagh, Claremorris, Castlebar, and finishing again in Westport.

Fresh from their appearance on Ireland AM on TV3 last week Noreen Coyne, Kavanagh's SuperValu Group HR Manager says, "Cycling is one of the fastest growing sports in Ireland, is on trend and has multiple health benefits. We are delighted by the response to date. We are delighted to have Taoiseach Enda Kenny open the event on Saturday September 15th and Andy, Dervla, Ian, Frankie, Liam and Noel come on board and take part in the cycle all in aid of a great cause."

You can register now for the "Help Us to Help Other's Cycle Challenge" online at www.kavanaghgroup.ie for a registration fee of €30. You can also register in any of the four Kavanagh's SuperValu Mayo stores for a registration fee of €40. A team of 4 can enter the Cycle Challenge for €100.
