This course is suitable for parents and teachers and will assist them to work collaboratively to provide effective support for pupils with ASD by giving an overview of ASD and strategies that can be employed to develop the pupil's independence. As many young people go through the teenage years they seem to become more distant from their parents and other adults around them. Communication can become more difficult and at times more stressful. This workshop is suitable for parents and teachers and will look at ways that might help to keep the channel of communication open and positive. MINDFULNESS FOR STRESS REDUCTION with Dr. Ann Caulfield & Derval Dunford on Tuesdays beginning October 3rd.
Mindfulness is an internationally recognised practice which has been found to be of enormous benefit to many people throughout the world. The primary purpose of this 8 week course is to teach people how to make the most of every day and to find relaxation through the practice of mindfulness. In addition to the course a CD with simple guided practices will be provided for each participant to help them to develop mindful practices and habits that can last a lifetime. PARENTING A CHILD LIVING WITH A LIFELONG ILLNESS & IT'S PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT ON THE CHILD, THE PARENT & THE FAMILY with Jannah Walshe on Saturday 7th October.
Chronic conditions or life-long illnesses are long-term, life-limiting conditions which can be treated and controlled but not cured. Some of these include but are not limited to: Asthma, Crohn's disease, Cystic fibrosis, Type 1 diabetes, Epilepsy and Juvenile arthritis. This one day workshop is for parents of children with these life-long illnesses. You will learn to identify and deal with the psychological impact of living with a life-long condition on your child, yourself and the rest of the family. A 6 week Suicide Bereavement Support Group begins on Tuesday 10th October at 8.00p.m. The group is for individuals who are bereaved by suicide and aims to be a safe, non-judgmental and confidential place where the bereaved can learn to cope as best they can.
