Foróige, The national youth organisation in conjunction with South West/ North East Mayo Development Company are rolling out Foróige's Leadership for Life Programme in Castlebar and Ballina
This exciting programme enables older teens and young adults (Aged 16-25) to develop the skills and qualities necessary to be good leaders, as well as challenging them to use these skills for the betterment of society.
The programme sets out to empower participants to make a positive difference to their community through practical actions and projects. Throughout the course of the programme, participants learn the core concepts of leadership and gain skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking. Developing the leadership capabilities and potential of participants.
The Leadership programme consists of 3 separate modules which will be run for 2- 3 hours per week beginning September.
Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action
In Ireland, Foróige's Leadership for Life programme has been accredited by the National University of Ireland, Galway, as a Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action. The programme was developed as a Lifelong Learning Initiative through partnership between Foróige and the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre based at NUI Galway. It is accredited as a Foundation Course as 15 credits at NFQ Level 6.
The Normal cost of completing this programme including certification and NUIG graduation is in the region of €350. However; we are able to offer SICAP funding for limited places to people who fall in to the NEET category. i.e. people who are not currently in in Education, Employment or Training. The funding covers the full cost of the programme, excluding €30 booking deposit.
