Parke Arts & Drama Group

Proudly Presents

A Wake In The West

A 3 Act Comedy By Michael Joe Ginnelly

Following on from last year's tremendously successful production of Micheal Joe Ginnelly's ‘Pretend Sick', the Parke Arts & Drama Group is once again bringing to life Michael's best known offering, the highly acclaimed 3 Act Comedy: ‘A Wake In The West'.  The Group is currently putting the finishing touches to this year's production and the Show will go on stage nightly from Thursday February 25th - Sunday 28th at Parke Community Centre, doors at 8.00pm with shows starting at 8.30pm.

A Wake in the West is set in a small west of Ireland fishing village, as we join the story Tom Healy has just passed away and his family and friends gather for the Wake.  However consternation arises when Dr. John informs Tom's daughter Mary that Tom's last wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered over the sea.  What will Fr. Cassidy have to say about this fiasco?  Neighbours Rose and Margaret are on hand to provide a laugh or two along the way when they call to pay their last respects.  Martin, Tom's son, returns from America for the funeral and is intent on rekindling the romance between himself and neighbour Joan.  Meanwhile Barney, Margaret's husband and Village drunk, is charged with rounding up the boats for Tom's last journey.

A Wake in the West is Directed by Dermot McMahon, Assistant Director Vincent McHale and Produced by Breda Morris and Kate Boyle

Last year's production was a sell out so don't waste any time in booking your tickets.  Tickets are available directly from Ann Connor (Tel. 094 9031128, after 6pm) or from the box office which will be open in the Community Centre after mass on Sat. 19th & Sun 20th Feb.  Tickets cost just €10 and some of the proceeds will be going to the Western Alzheimers Association.

Why not come along and bring the family for a great night's entertainment full of laughs.
