Entrepreneur business man John Quinn, Surface Power Technology,
Tourmakeady, addressed an Enterprise Evening hosted by the Innovation
in Business Centre at GMIT Castlebar. Mr Quinn relayed his experience
of establishing and running his own businesses.
The event titled "Spirit of Entrepreneurship" took place in the GMIT Castlebar campus on Thursday 10th September.
John Quinn was a 2002 finalist of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of Year
and winner of the All-Ireland Innovation Award 2003, founded Surface
Power Technologies which develops and manufacturers solar and wind
energy technology. He is regarded as a start-up veteran across the US
and Europe with twenty years experience in general and global
manufacturing management, and the holder of worldwide technology
patents. He is a judge on the world’s largest Innovation challenge in
the USA, a Council Member of the Irish Wind Energy Agency Association
and an Advisor to several Government Functions and the Government
Clean-Tech Policy.
