Eleanors Secret

When his eccentric old Aunt Eleanor bequeaths herseaside house to his parents, seven year-old Nathaniel discovers a cast of heroes and villains from children's literature hiding in her book collection! But there is more - they are actually the original characters and are counting on Nat for protection, because if they leave the library they will disappear along with their stories! And unless Nat can learn to read, all these fairy tale characters will disappear forever. In a race against time and before his parents start to sell off the books, he must fight to save his new-found friends. A charming animated film with a message from Academy Award-nominated French animator, Dominique Monfery.

Beezneez - United

THEATRE Wednesday 2nd November @ 8.00pm

Based on his well-received RTÉ radio play, John McDwyer's new play United charts the lives of a rural Irish family over fifty years from the Munich air disaster in 1958. When the matriarch passes
away, her remaining children congregate for her funeral. Over the days of the funeral, dark secrets are revealed which lead to conflict until eventual reconciliation is reached and the family is, once more, united. A moving and life enhancing play from the author of Lovely Leitrim, Callaghan's Place and Unforgiven and given the usual Beezneez production values, a richly rewarding evening of theatre is guaranteed. Directed by John McDwyer.

Adm. €15 / €12 (concessions)

"Beezneez, renowned for their production values." - Meath Chronicle
"Beezneez... this accomplished company." - Leitrim Observer

axis: Ballymun - When Jolie Met Christie

CABARET THEATRE Wednesday 9th November @ 8.00pm

Aonghus McAnally performs a compelling one-man cabaret-theatre show inspired by the life and music of Christie Hennessy, as recounted by the Broadway star Al Jolson. The late Christie Hennessy, one of Ireland's great singer-songwriters and much loved performers, was fascinated with Jolson and spent much of his boyhood imitating the great Broadway troubadour. In When Jolie Met Christie Al Jolson speaks of his admiration for Christie and his new understanding of him now they are together in the afterlife, comparing the struggles and triumphs of their two careers. What is the motivation behind all the great performers? And what sacrifices do they make as they try to follow their dream? This is a quirky, funny and sometimes dark meditation on the price of fame, featuring many of Christie's greatest songs. When Jolie Met Christie brings together axis Director Ray Yeates, playwright Seán McCarthy, artistic designer Robert Ballagh and performer, entertainer and musician Aonghus McAnally (who often played with Christie over the years) in a national tour of this acclaimed sell-out show.

Adm.: €15 / €12 (concessions)

"This show is all heart... It's the music that does the talking. One suspects that's how Hennessy would have liked it." - The Irish Times
