Sports Council Challenge

May 2014

Is your company ready to take on the Sports Council Challenge?

A Chara,

The Sports Council Challenge is a four week corporate challenge which the Irish Sports Council is running in May 2014. Our CEO, John Treacy is asking companies to get involved and motivate their employees to become more active over the course of May. We started the Challenge two years ago and we were delighted to have 125 companies signed up to date to take on the Challenge. We have been overwhelmed by the achievements of the companies that took part in the last two years.

The Challenge:

Your staff will set physical activity challenges to complete over four weeks in May. The challenges can be large or small scale initiatives to suit the size of your workforce. They can be associated with a specific target like cycling the equivalent distance of the Tour de France or running/walking the distance from Dublin to Belfast. Making it measurable like this will give your staff a goal to focus on and keep them interested. After the four weeks of activity, your company will send a video to the Irish Sports Council, demonstrating what you have achieved with your challenges. Companies will be nominated for awards based on what they accomplish as a team over the four weeks - this is not about who wins the race, it's all about team work and motivation.

The Awards:

We will be shortlisting companies to win an award under the headings below based on the videos they submit and what they have achieved as a company. Further details on what the video should contain will be given to all companies after they register. The awards categories are as follows:
· Best Small Organisation (0-20 employees)

· Best Medium Organisation (21 - 100 employees)

· Best Large Organisation (101 + employees)

· Best Sporting Organisation

What's in it for your company?
You can help create a healthier, happier and more productive workforce
The Challenge will help build morale within your organisation
A chance to win a Sports Council Challenge Award and a wellness package for your company
A chance to highlight your own company's achievements during the Challenge
Publicity for your company through our Sports Council Challenge campaign
You can have a bit of fun and entry is free!

How to get involved:

To get your staff involved we would suggest that you ask them to get thinking about challenges they could achieve - you will get some ideas on our website. Please pass this email on to colleagues, friends and family that might be interested in taking part.

Full details on the Challenge are available from www.sportscouncilchallenge.com but if you have any additional questions, please contact us by email at challenge@irishsportscouncil.ie or by telephone at 01 8608800. If your company would like to get involved you please register online before the 30th of April.

And don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep in the loop of how all the companies are getting on!

Is mise, le meas,

Gillian Costelloe
