My School Trip to Turlough Museum
On Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. we went outside and on to our buses. We left the school at 9:35 a.m. and we arrived in Turlough Museum at 10:00 a.m. We were all very excited.
We were divided into three groups, group A, group B and group C. Group A first went into see the I.C.A. exhibition while the other two groups went to see the Cross Of Cong and statues in old style clothing. We also saw pieces made of crochet and patchwork. There were baskets and armchairs woven from straw.
My favourite thing was the Cross Of Cong. I thought it had a very interesting background story and I also thought it was beautiful. I am glad it is back in Mayo and on display in the museum. We all had a great day and we found out a lot of interesting information we never knew before from long ago in Ireland.

My School Trip to the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life
At 9.30am on Wednesday morning we left the school for Turlough Museum. It took us ten minutes to get there by bus. In the museum we saw the Cross Of Cong, old Aran Clothes, straw and wicker baskets and many more artefacts.
We saw video footage of traditional crafts such as people making things out of straw and wicker- lobster pots. We also saw an exhibition on the I.C.A (The Irish Country Association). There were handmade wedding and communion dresses, crochet, jumpers and much more.
My favourite object was a patchwork quilt made by I.C.A women. It was very colourful and the colours were very vivid. The trip was very enjoyable.
