This exhibition explores the stories of 19th century young female Irish emigrants alongside those of eight women who have recently immigrated to Mayo. Every migrant journey is unique, yet there are shared experiences of isolation and loneliness but also of adaptation and adventure. All Ages

The On Sight Trail around the grounds of Turlough Park, will run until September 2015. The theme is 'Welcome to the Stranger: Migrant People, Places and Spaces'. On Sight is a collaboration between the Museum of Country Life, Mayo County Council Arts Office, Mayo Arts Squad and independent artists. Pick up a map for this popular art trail at Reception

Hair Hurling Balls: Earliest Artefacts of Our National Game

Back by popular demand! This exhibition firmly establishes the antiquity of our national game of hurling, with radio-carbon dated hurling balls from 800 years ago!All Ages

Join Olivia Martin for some interesting insights into the lives of mothers and

mistresses, spinsters and widows as revealed through a study of the wills of lesser gentry in East Mayo between 1760 and 1880.

Fiona White, GMIT presents the life of Louisa Moore of Moore Hall. A strong-minded, dictatorial woman of great business capacity who combined the role of wife and

mother with her role as manager of the estate with great enthusiasm. Booking required. Adults.

Join Gaynor Seville, Public Arts Co-ordinator, Mayo Co.Co. for a tour of the On Sight Art Trail, followed by a documentary on the artworks by artist Mary Henning. For the past 15 years, Chris & Lynda Huxley have studied and photographed Co. Mayo's unique marl lake. Their book 'Lough Carra' covers everything from archaeology & art to angling & ecology; illustrated with Lynda's photographs & paintings by Deirdre Walsh.

Heritage Week: Annual Donkey Day "We're All Donkey!!"

The team from Sathya Sai, Sligo; Horse & Donkey Mayo Sanctuary, Kiltimagh and Irish Donkey Welfare Organisation, are all back! Come along and meet the donkeys: help groom them, see how their hooves are trimmed and watch as they are harnessed and ready for work. Join us for lots of games, demonstrations and information. Mayo Girls and the Irish Mission

Watson House in New York City was the home of the Mission of Our Lady of the Rosary for the Protection of Irish Immigrant Girls. The Mission helped 100,000 young Irish women settle into the United States in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Join Dr. Maureen Murphy to hear the story of the Mission with a particular focus on girls from County Mayo. Adults.

From Galway to Gettysburg

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil War, join historian Cal McCarthy as he explores the amazing stories of the Irish who made the journey from Ireland to America, only to find themselves involved in one of history's bloodiest conflicts.
