RTE will be filming in the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar this Friday (14 Dec 2012) from 1.30pm - and the footage will be used as a special Christmas filler for RTE News in the days before Christmas. Please come along and join us for the filming from 1.30pm and enjoy some carol singing, Xmas storytelling (origins of Christmas) and Xmas decorations workshops. Following the RTE filming, stay to hear the Foxford National School Band who will be doing their annual public performance of Christmas Carols in the Galleries at 3pm.

Visit the MUSEUM OF COUNTRY LIFE, Turlough Park, Castlebar on Saturday 15 December (12-5pm) for the Christmas Family Day, which includes a special appearance by Santa Claus & his Elves. 12-2.30pm: Meet Santa & his Elves in the Museum Galleries. Admission €2 per child. Free tea/coffee for adults & free hot chocolate/carton of juice for children (special offer available on presentation of Santa ticket. Courtesy of Brambles, Museum Cafe). 2-5pm. Workshops & Traditional Tunes. 2-5pm: Guess the weight of the Christmas cake competition. 2pm: Help us decorate the museum Christmas tree with a variety of Christmas decoration workshops. Age 7+ 3pm: 'A Little Donkeys Christmas' workshop for juniors. Age 4-6. 4pm: Tunes from the Music Circle. All ages. No booking required for workshops/traditional tunes. First come first served.
