SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR WEEK: 10 - 14 November 2004

"Notice to Quit: Scenes of Eviction - Ireland 1886-1890"

This exhibition, which is on loan from the National Library of Ireland, features a unique photographic record of tenant eviction scenes between 1886-1890.
Admission Free. Location: Temporary Exhibition Galleries on level -1.

Mias Tighearnáin: St. Tiernan's Dish

on display at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life
The famous medieval reliquary, the Mias Tighearnáin, St. Tiernan's Dish, has traditionally been associated with Errew near Crossmolina, Co. Mayo and has been in the care of the National Museum of Ireland since 1999.

Admission to all lectures is free. Booking necessary, as places are limited Location: Museum Galleries Level 0

Find out what hidden features conservation can uncover.  Try your hand at reading x-rays, repairing pottery, removing layers of paint and more!  With National Museum Conservator Carol Smith.

The 11th of November is Martinmas Day, the feast day of St. Martin.  Local author Joe McGowan, author of 'Inishmurray Island Voices' tells us about the power of cures and curses around Martinmas.

Local Folklore: The Mias and other Curiosities.  In conjunction with the temporary exhibition of the Mias Tighearnáin reliquary.
